Ryan Quarles Jumps Into Kentucky Race for Governor, Solidifying Crowded GOP Primary
Over the weekend, Ryan Quarles quietly made his intention to run for the GOP nomination for governor in 2023 clear in a bizarre Saturday evening announcement in what is shaping up to be a crowded and divisive Republican primary.
This comes as recent polls show strong support for Gov. Beshear as he puts Kentucky families first — even vetoing a pay raise for himself to fight for higher pay for teachers.
“Ryan Quarles is just one of many divisive and self-serving politicians jockeying for position in what is shaping up to be a crowded GOP primary. And unfortunately for them, that race will be much, much longer and muddier than the fastest two minutes in sports this Saturday.” said DGA Deputy Communications Director Sam Newton. “Meanwhile, Gov. Beshear continues to work with both parties to do right by Kentucky families. He’s delivered the largest economic investment in Kentucky history, lowered the cost of prescription drugs, boosted pay for state troopers, and continues to fight for better schools and higher teacher pay — all while managing the Commonwealth through tough times like the tragic tornado in Western Kentucky. That’s a record that brings Kentuckians together and they’re ready to support for another four years.”
