Scott Jensen’s Running Mate Spreads Conspiracies that 2022 Election Will Be Stolen

“I would be disappointed if they didn’t try to cheat on Election Day,”

The Jensen-Birk campaign is already spreading lies that the Minnesota governor’s race will be stolen — before voting has even started. Jensen’s running mate, Matt Birk, spread conspiracy theories at an event, saying, “I would be disappointed if they didn’t try to cheat on election day.”

Scott Jensen has made the Big Lie conspiracy that the 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump the defining issue of his campaign. He refuses to say that Joe Biden was legitimately elected and threatened jail time for Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon for supposedly being in on the plot to steal the election.

Jensen’s extremism doesn’t stop with spreading anti-democratic conspiracies. Jensen has promised to ban abortion, even in cases of rape and incest and his campaign proudly defended comments that belittled survivors of rape and sexual assault and compared abortion to slavery. Jensen also is well-known for spreading disinformation about COVID-19 — and then threatening to fire the board of doctors investigating him for his false claims if elected governor.

“These conspiracy theories from the Jensen-Birk ticket are designed to undermine democracy and are immediately disqualifying for any individual seeking public office,” said DGA Senior Communications Advisor Christina Amestoy. “Minnesotans value the truth over lies and they won’t stand for these anti-democratic comments from Jensen and Birk.”
