Radical Ron is Wrong For Florida: Banning Abortion With No Exceptions for Rape or Incest
In addition to launching a new video highlighting Ron DeSantis’ hypocrisy, the DGA is kicking off the general election with a new series highlighting 5 key ways DeSantis is wrong for Florida. Today, the DGA is calling out DeSantis for his dangerous and unpopular plans to dismantle women’s right to make their own reproductive health care decisions:
- DeSantis signed a dangerous abortion ban with no exceptions for survivors of rape, incest, or human trafficking.
- DeSantis praised the overturning of Roe v. Wade.
- DeSantis’ extreme anti-abortion legislation will force a 16-year-old to give birth, after a court ruled she could not get an abortion.
- DeSantis removed an elected state attorney in Hillsborough County from office after he said he would not enforce DeSantis’ extreme abortion ban and prosecute women and doctors who seek or assist in reproductive health care services.
- Just yesterday, DeSantis said his goal is to push for even more extreme restrictions on reproductive freedoms in Florida, saying “we look forward and we welcome future endeavors” to restrict and ban abortion. However, when pressed for specifics on if he supports a complete abortion ban, DeSantis ended the press conference and took flight out of the room.
“Ron DeSantis claims to fight for freedom, when the reality is, he’s dead-set on ripping away reproductive freedoms for millions of women in Florida,” said DGA Deputy Communications Director Sam Newton. “His extreme agenda to ban abortion is just another way Ron is wrong for Florida.”
