John James Spent Yesterday Bragging About Cutting Health Care With DC Insiders

Scalise: “We would not have some of the great policies in the One Big Beautiful Bill without the leadership of John James.”

Yesterday, John James held an event with other GOP members of Congress in Michigan to brag about passing Donald Trump’s deeply unpopular federal budget law that is cutting health care for hundreds of thousands of Michiganders, raising costs and threatening rural hospitals, while also giving a tax cut to millionaires like himself.

In fact, one of John James’ bosses in DC, Steve Scalise, said: “We would not have some of the great policies in the One Big Beautiful Bill without the leadership of John James.”

Meanwhile, one of James’ other GOP allies in Congress at the event said they “should do a little more” to help the wealthiest.

As James’ votes to raise costs, he has consistently proven he’s deeply out-of-touch with how higher prices are hurting Michigan families. He claimed earlier this year that Republicans in DC like himself and Trump are “keeping prices low.”

“John James is deeply out-of-touch with how his votes are hurting everyday Michiganders. But credit where it is due: we agree with Steve Scalise that John James is responsible for Trump’s deeply unpopular health care cuts, and we encourage him to keep sharing that with Michiganders who are ready to make James a three-time statewide loser this November,” said DGA Communications Director Sam Newton.
