IN HIS OWN WORDS: Jack Ciattarelli Renews Call for New Jersey Abortion Ban

In a recent interview on New Jersey 101.5, Jack Ciattarelli reiterated his call for an abortion ban in New Jersey. Ciattarelli’s proposed abortion ban comes as the federal government’s attacks on reproductive freedom continue to underscore the role that states play in protecting women’s access to essential medical care.

Earlier this month, Ciattarelli campaigned with the head of the New Jersey Family Policy Center, an extreme, far right anti-abortion group that “argued that [he would] be the strongest choice to support (…) anti-abortion policy in the state.” His outspoken support for defunding Planned Parenthood coupled with his plans to stack the state Supreme Court with conservative judges like those who overturned Roe is an alarming sign of the threat he poses to reproductive freedom.

“Jack Ciattarelli’s abortion ban is the clearest sign of the danger he poses to New Jersey women and families,” said DGA spokesperson Izzi Levy. “There’s nothing ‘reasonable’ about attacking health care access, rolling back rights, or threatening providers. For Ciattarelli to say otherwise is just more proof that he can’t be trusted to protect the interests of New Jerseyans if he becomes governor.”
