This morning, DGA External Affairs Director Ofirah Yheskel appeared on Spectrum News to explain how Trump’s deeply unpopular budget bill will serve as a “big, ugly political liability” for Republicans in governors’ races.
With GOP gubernatorial nominees Jack Ciattarelli and Winsome Sears embracing the bill, which will rip away health care and food assistance for millions of Americans, Ofirah highlighted why the bill is going to be “disqualifying” for Republicans running for governor.
“I’m pretty confident that this is going to be a big, ugly political liability for Republicans and their campaigns this year. Governors, their jobs are to balance these budgets, to create economic growth and jobs, and to stand up for the people that they want to serve. And I think it’s disqualifying when both Republicans are saying that cutting people’s health care and removing them from food assistance is something that they want to see.”
