Dan Cox’s Campaign Ramps up Maryland’s MAGA Primary as Silent Schulz Continues to Hide
Last week, far-right Delegate Daniel Cox kicked off his campaign in the Maryland GOP primary for governor, which he’s quickly turning into a MAGA primary of Trump loyalty tests given his record of previously bussing far-right extremists to the Trump rally that led to the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol.
Meanwhile, since launching her campaign months ago, Kelly Schulz has refused to take a position on a number of major issues defining the race — from pandemic relief to abortion and even Donald Trump’s dangerous conspiracy theories.
She has also stayed silent on Cox’s dangerous rhetoric, even as Maryland resident Capitol police officers testified that Trump’s lies fueled the deadly insurrection. Maryland Matters recently noted that Schulz’s campaign hasn’t even sent out a press release in months.
“Maryland’s MAGA primary is getting messy, and Kelly Schulz is running out of places to hide,” said DGA Deputy Communications Director Sam Newton. “Trump acolytes like Cox are gearing up for a full-on MAGA takeover in Maryland, and voters are left wondering where Silent Schulz stands. Schulz should start by condemning Cox’s involvement in the violent Capitol insurrection, but we won’t hold our breath as she’s done nothing to answer any questions since launching her campaign in April.”
