COURTING DISASTER: Michigan’s GOP Primary Goes from Ugly to Legal as Perry Johnson Sues John James

New reporting from the Detroit News reveals that Michigan GOP primary candidate Perry Johnson has filed a lawsuit against his opponent John James over his campaign’s website and commercials, contending that they aim to mislead voters in violation of Michigan statute.

This lawsuit is just the latest development in the extremely ugly primary Michigan Republicans have on their hands – John James has picked fights with GOP leaders in critical Oakland County and gotten boos from Republicans at the state’s party convention, while Perry Johnson has made the race much more chaotic with millions in spending.

“John James and Perry Johnson were already dragging each other to the far right, and now they’re dragging each other into court,” said DGA Communications Director Sam Newton. “And no matter who wins, they’re losing by embracing Trump’s toxic agenda that’s harming Michiganders and spiking costs.”
