Caught on Tape: RGA Chair Walker Claims ‘Small Sliver’ of Wisconsinites Affected by TrumpCare

Caught on Tape: RGA Chair Walker Claims ‘Small Sliver’ of Wisconsinites Affected by TrumpCare

COUNTERPOINT – Wisconsin Hospital Association: 311,000 People Would Lose Insurance

Governor Scott Walker told viewers of his Facebook Live on Tuesday that only a “small sliver” of Wisconsinites will be affected under Trumpcare. Watch the video here:

“The good news is for most of you tuning in: Most of us aren’t affected. Most people in Wisconsin and across the country get our health insurance from our employer. This doesn’t directly affect us – any of the changes. … What this covers is a small sliver of people who don’t have access to employer-based plans…”

The Wisconsin Hospital Association sees it very differently. In a letter delivered to Governor Walker, the association projected 311,000 people in the state would lose their insurance.

“Hospital Association President Eric Borgerding outlined more than a dozen points of concern in a letter marked as hand-delivered to Walker on Monday. Borgerding has been speaking publicly this week about the group’s concerns and its estimate that 311,000 people in the state would lose insurance coverage by 2026 under the GOP plan.”

Walker’s cavalier comments show just how out of touch he is with working families in Wisconsin.

“Either Scott Walker is lying to Wisconsinites, or he believes 300,000 people is just a ‘small sliver of people,’” said DGA Communications Director Jared Leopold. “It’s time for Scott Walker to come clean with Wisconsin and admit the disastrous impacts of Trumpcare on Wisconsin families.”
