Today, Ohioans for Lower Costs, a group backed by the Democratic Governors Association, released an ad in Ohio’s governor race, “Youngstown Tough,” featuring a Youngstown steelworker talking about how Dr. Amy Acton is a fighter who will lower costs for Ohio families.
In the ad, steelworker Marcus highlights Dr. Acton’s powerful story of overcoming homelessness, hunger, and abuse that has driven her to spend her career fighting for Ohio kids and families. He praises how she’ll take on anyone to lower costs for Ohioans, saying, “She’s Youngstown tough, and that’s the best compliment I can give.”

I’ve been a Youngstown steelworker my entire life.
This is a tough place and makes tough people.
Amy Acton, she is one of us.
She grew up poor and sometimes homeless, but worked her way through college and med school.
She knows what folks here are going through because she’s lived it.
As governor, I know she’ll work to get costs down for working families and go after anyone ripping off Ohio.
She’s Youngstown tough, and that’s the best compliment I can give.
