Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers Safeguarding Voting Rights From WI GOP’s Nonsense Conspiracy Theories

Wisconsin Republicans are continuing to spread the ‘Big Lie’ that led to the attack on the U.S. Capitol and left five people dead. Trump’s election conspiracy theory is a pipe dream that Speaker Robin Vos can’t quite let go of, and Gov. Tony Evers is the last line of defense for voting rights in the state.

Though Trump and his supporters have lost dozens of lawsuits — including ones that went before judges nominated by Trump — Vos is launching a taxpayer-funded investigation into Wisconsin election results. The investigation will be conducted by retired police officers, including a known election fraud conspiracy theorist.

“Wisconsin Republicans won’t fund healthcare, schools, or infrastructure … but they will authorize unlimited funds to desperately prove conspiracy theories about the 2020 election,” said the Democratic Party of Wisconsin in a tweet on Wednesday.

Even Vos himself admits the doomed investigation can’t change Biden’s victory over Trump. Instead of focusing on the real issues that matter to Wisconsinites, Vos says, “My job is to be frustrated with the result.”

The anti-democracy WI GOP seeks to “limit ballot drop boxes, restrict who can return absentee ballots for others and tighten rules for when elderly and disabled voters can automatically receive absentee ballots.”

As the WI GOP piles onto baseless claims of election fraud, Wisconsin Democrats are hard at work protecting democracy in the Badger State. Ann Jacobs, who leads the Wisconsin Elections Commission, says the election results have “already been thoroughly investigated.”

While Rep. Vos throws a temper tantrum over Trump’s loss, Gov. Evers has held fast as the last line of defense for voting rights. The Democratic governor is set to veto anti-democratic bills crossing his desk in the coming weeks, proving his commitment to democracy over lies.

“Almost seven months after the election, Wisconsin Republicans like Robin Vos are desperately clinging onto Trump’s ‘Big Lie,’ and they’re wasting taxpayer dollars to do it,” said DGA Senior Communications Advisor Christina Amestoy. “Wisconsinites deserve real leadership, and they know they can count on Gov. Evers to protect voting rights.”
