Winless Walker Comes to Michigan for Schuette
On a Losing Streak, Gov. Walker Brings His Political Failure to the Wolverine State
Today, Attorney General Bill Schuette is getting some help on the campaign trail from Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker. Unfortunately for Schuette, Walker has been more like a kiss of death than a kingmaker.
Walker wasted most of 2015 and 2016 pursuing a futile presidential campaign. Then, Walker went 0-2 as RGA Chair in 2017, backing losing candidates Kim Guadagno and Ed Gillespie in New Jersey and Virginia. And, just last week, Republicans suffered an upset loss in Walker’s backyard, which led him to sound the alarm for GOP in 2018.

So while Schuette might say he’s happy to have the governor visiting, Walker’s endorsement has lost a lot of its luster.
“Like Bill Schuette, Scott Walker has been more interested in catering to national special interests than fighting for the people of his state,” said DGA Communications Director Jared Leopold. “And Scott Walker has paid the price, piling up loss after loss, as voters reject his mistaken priorities. No one has had a more up-close and personal view of Republican electoral problems this year than Scott Walker. Schuette’s campaign could end up being another ‘wake up call’ that the GOP isn’t listening to.”
