Will Kelly Ayotte Stand By Trump Endorsement After He Was Found Guilty of 34 Felony Charges?
Will Kelly Ayotte Stand By Trump Endorsement After He Was Found Guilty of 34 Felony Charges?
After the jury in former President Donald Trump’s hush money trial reached a verdict, finding Trump guilty on all counts, DGA Deputy Communications Director Izzi Levy issued the following statement:
“Eight years after Kelly Ayotte’s infamous unendorsement cost her her Senate seat, the moment of reckoning has arrived: will Ayotte stand by her endorsement of former president Donald Trump after he was convicted of 34 felony charges? Since launching her campaign for governor, Ayotte has hidden from Granite Staters and refused to answer basic questions about her support for Trump. Now that the verdict is in, Ayotte must tell voters why she believes loyalty to a convicted felon whose toxic agenda New Hampshire has twice rejected is more important than upholding the rule of law.”
While Ayotte is silent on the former president’s conviction, her primary opponent state Senator Chuck Morse was quick to reaffirm his support for Donald Trump — a clear contrast in what has become a contentious GOP primary.
Ayotte’s ongoing Trump troubles come after many attribute her 2016 loss to her decision to rescind her endorsement of the then-GOP nominee. Earlier this year, after being widely rebuked for refusing to say who she supported in the state’s first-in-the-nation primary, Ayotte once more endorsed the former president, reminding voters yet again that she will say or do anything to get elected.
