As voters cast their ballots in the New Hampshire presidential primary, former U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte has yet to say who she will be voting for.
While Chuck Morse leans hard into his support for Donald Trump, and Gov. Sununu has made it his full-time job to campaign for Nikki Haley throughout the state, Ayotte is staying silent — likely because the last time she took a position on Donald Trump it cost her her job.
Ayotte’s silence has made waves in Trumpworld, with congressman Elise Stefanik making a not-so-subtle dig at Ayotte as she campaigned for the former president over the weekend, calling herself the “only Republican woman from the Northeast to still support Trump,” and specifically citing Ayotte’s un-endorsement of Trump in 2016.
“As New Hampshire Republicans prepare to vote in their first-in-the-nation primary tomorrow, former Senator Kelly Ayotte is among the last GOP politicians in the state refusing to say how she’ll be voting,” said DGA States Press Secretary Emma O’Brien. “As she struggles to avoid repeating her 2016 mistakes, the clock is ticking and Granite Staters see right through her Trump Tightrope Act.”
