WHAT THEY’RE SAYING: Keisha Lance Bottoms Has “Real Momentum” in What Is Turning Out to be the “Most Promising Year for [Georgia] Democrats in a Midterm Cycle”
The general election matchup in Georgia is set – and pundits and experts are saying that Keisha Lance Bottoms enters the general election with “real momentum” in what is turning out to be a “most promising year for Democrats.” With Republicans stuck with Rick Jackson, Keisha is drawing a contrast between her commitment to hardworking Georgians and Jackson’s record of fighting for himself – and Donald Trump.

CNN’s Harry Enten: This may be the most promising year for Democrats in a midterm cycle… since I was in middle school, the longest for this entire 21st century… We’re talking about the fact that if you look at the chance that the Democrats win both governor and Senate. Look at that. Keisha Lance Bottoms, you mentioned a 52% chance of winning the governorship there…Georgia is moving to the left as migrant patterns take place in the United States as white college degree folks around the Atlanta suburbs move to the left. Georgia becoming more and more purplish, dare I say blue this cycle. And that is why it wouldn’t be surprising to me if you got a twofer. Democrats sweeping both the governorship and the Senate races because Georgia is moving left.
MS NOW’s Ali Velshi: So while I think this is a pretty good night for Jon Ossoff because he knows how to define himself against who he’s running against, this is also going to sit well for Keisha Lance Bottoms because she’s got a way to define herself against these guys who are busy fighting for what a Republican in Georgia actually is.
Karen Finney: I will also point out with Keisha Lance Bottoms at the top of the ticket, she is going to help draw out the Black vote on the Democratic side…. You have a number of factors working in their favor this year in terms of both the issue environment and the politics.
Newsweek: Former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms enters the 2026 Georgia gubernatorial race with real momentum—and a rare opening for Democrats in a state that hasn’t elected a Democrat as governor in decades.
WSB: Keisha Lance Bottoms is polished, she’s a great communicator, she’s a formidable debater.
