WATCH on MSNBC: Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont Leads on Getting Shots in Arms, Beating the Pandemic
Thanks to Gov. Ned Lamont’s impressive vaccine rollout strategy, Connecticut is leading the nation in getting shots in arms. In an interview with MSNBC’s Chris Hayes, Gov. Lamont explains what being the state with the highest rate of vaccinations among eligible residents means for the state’s businesses, schools, hospitals, and families.
Gov. Lamont said, “I think a lot of pride that we’re getting it right, that our schools are open and they don’t have to shut down for quarantine like is happening in other states; that our hospitals have extra capacity so we can take care of surgeries for all of our citizens. And some of the other states that are less vaccinated, they’re flying their patients into Connecticut so we can provide lifesaving surgeries for them as well.”

“By taking immediate and decisive action to get shots in arms, Gov. Lamont is not only leading the country in vaccination rates — he’s also leading in growing Connecticut’s economy, keeping kids in schools, keeping families safe and hospitals operating under normal capacity,” said DGA Deputy Communications Director Sam Newton. “Democratic governors understand that the only way to put the pandemic behind us is by getting people vaccinated and following the science — and across the country, they have the results to prove it works.”
