WATCH: CT GOP Candidates All Give Trump an ‘A’
Republicans Applaud Trump’s Attacks on Health Care, Immigrants, Reproductive Rights
If anyone doubted that the GOP is now the party of Trump, the Connecticut Republican debate last week confirmed it.
All five candidates were asked to give President Trump a grade for his first 18 months in office, and let’s just say they were pretty generous graders.
Watch their answers here:
Moderator: Grade Trump on his first eighteen months. Give him a grade.
Boughton: I give him an A
Obsitnik: Likewise, A
Moderator: Alright, five A’s!
That’s right. Despite the Trump administration’s disastrous record – attacks on protections for people with preexisting conditions, Supreme Court appointments that threaten reproductive rights, the travel ban, the embarrassing and unhinged rhetoric, and all the rest – David Stemerman, Selectman Tim Herbst, Mayor Mark Boughton, Steve Obsitnik, and Bob Stefanowski all gave the president top marks.
Connecticut voters don’t agree. A poll from earlier this year shows Trump is 26 points underwater with voters in the Nutmeg State.
“Connecticut Republicans running for governor think Trump deserves an ‘A’, but the rest of the state wouldn’t even give him a passing grade,” said DGA Communications Director Jared Leopold.“Every GOP candidate wants to bring Trump’s harmful agenda to Connecticut, and that shows just how out of touch they all are.”
