Watch: CNN Discusses How Trump is “Actively Working” to Encourage Nasty GOP Primaries in Governor’s Races
Trump is actively “recruiting primary challengers against Brian Kemp, the Republican governor of Georgia”
Earlier this week, CNN reported on air how former President Trump is engaging in governor’s races across the country to ensure far-right, Pro-Trump candidates emerge from GOP primaries – including in Georgia, where vulnerable incumbent Brian Kemp is already facing a nasty Republican primary.
CNN’s Gabby Orr discussed Trump, stating: “On top of physical supporting these candidates, hitting the campaign trail alongside of them, he’s actively working behind the scenes to infuse the Republican party with more Pro-Trump, friendly candidates. He’s recruiting primary challengers against Brian Kemp, the Republican governor of Georgia.”
This is bad news for the RGA and Republican candidates across the country, as it will not be possible to emerge from GOP primaries for governor without pledging undying loyalty to Trump and his harmful policies and toxic conspiracy theories. In Virginia, the GOP primary for governor has been nothing but a loyalty test to Trump, where a key litmus test has been pushing election conspiracy theories and refusing to accept the results of the 2020 election.
Meanwhile, the guarantee of having a nasty GOP primary about Trumpism is leading to major RGA recruitment failures in states like Michigan, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Minnesota, among others, especially as even Republican incumbents like Brian Kemp and Mike DeWine have been the target of Trump-encouraged primary challenges.
