Fung Flounders, Unable to Answer for Trump Support

In last night’s Rhode Island gubernatorial debate, Cranston Mayor Allan Fung struggled to answer for his support for Trump in a state where nearly 60% of voters disapprove of the job he’s doing.
When asked about whether or not he would wear a Trump hat today, Fung repeatedly refused to answer. And not only that, but he embarked on a rambling and far-fetched story that both reiterated his excitement at attending Trump’s inauguration and implausibly attempted to blame Governor Raimondo for his now infamous choice of headwear (pictured below).

“If Allan Fung can’t even be trusted to answer a question about a hat, how can he be trusted to stand up for Rhode Island against Trump?” said DGA Communications Director Jared Leopold. “Mayor Fung should stop squirming and be honest with Rhode Island about who he is: A Trump hat-wearing, Trump policy-backing, Trump Republican. He’s going to need to buy a lot of hats if he wants to be able to pull the wool over Rhode Islanders’ eyes.”
