Under Gov. Edwards, Louisiana #2 in U.S. in Unemployment Decrease Over Last Year
Louisiana Unemployment at 10-Year Low
Governor John Bel Edwards is putting people back to work in Louisiana. Today, the Bureau of Labor Statistics released a new report showing Louisiana had the second largest decrease in unemployment rate over the last year, dropping from 5.7% in February 2017 to 4.5% in February 2018.
The state’s unemployment rate is now the lowest it’s been since Feburary 2008. Governor Edwards has made workforce training once of the priorities of his administration.
“Thanks to Governor John Bel Edwards’ leadership, Louisiana’s economy is growing again,” said DGA Communications Director Jared Leopold. “Governor Edwards has cleaned up the mess he inherited and invested in job creation and workforce training. Louisiana has one of the best improvements in unemployment rate in the nation over the last year, and that’s thanks to Governor Edwards’ strong leadership.”
