Two Largest Newspapers in Missouri Endorse Koster for Governor
St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Kansas City Star back Koster
Over the weekend, Attorney General Chris Koster earned the endorsements of Missouri’s two largest newspapers in his campaign for governor.
Here’s what both the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and the Kansas City Star had to say in their endorsements of Chris Koster over GOP opponent Eric Greitens:
St. Louis Post-Dispatch: Editorial: For Missouri governor, Koster’s experience gives him the edge
“Koster is by far the better-prepared candidate. […] Experience, no matter what you may have heard from ‘outsider’ candidates like Greitens, is not necessarily a bad thing in a politician.”
“He has a better grasp of Missouri’s political reality than Greitens, whether it’s Koster’s opposition to right-to-work legislation, his support for campaign finance reform, reproductive rights and stem-cell research, his willingness to release his tax returns, or his support for Medicaid expansion.”
“The governor’s office seems more like a box on a Greitens checklist than a call to serve and improve the lives of Missourians.”
Kansas City Star: Chris Koster would be ready to govern Missouri from day one
“In contrast to some of Greitens’ uninformed statements about state governmental processes, Koster has demonstrated sound knowledge of legislative and executive functions.”
“Koster has valuable experience in making government work, and he has the willingness to seek bipartisan solutions that would make him an effective governor from his first days in office.”
