TPaw Freaks Out over Johnson, Goes Negative in First Ad
GOP primary getting nasty in Minnesota
Tim Pawlenty, seasoned D.C. lobbyist and corporate shill, must have realized that ignoring party endorsed GOP primary opponent Jeff Johnson isn’t going to cut it in this race. Today, the Pawlenty campaign released its first ad, immediately going on the offensive against Johnson for hiking taxes and supporting expanded healthcare in Minnesota.
While Johnson has been focused on pandering for Trump’s approval and repealing protections for those with pre-existing conditions, Pawlenty has been mobilizing his D.C. machine to fight off Johnson and the Minnesota GOP. Pawlenty is attacking Johnson for his support of Obamacare and the Medicaid expansion — making clear that Pawlenty would threaten Minnesota’s Medicaid expansion and force thousands of Minnesota families to choose between healthcare and their next meal.
“With over a month to go in the primary, Minnesotans now can expect a nasty race,” said Democratic Governors Association Deputy Communications Director David Turner. “Despite the fact that hundreds of thousands of people rely on the Medicaid expansion, Pawlenty, like Johnson, wants to rollback protections and coverage that Minnesotans rely on. The Minnesota GOP can count on a damaged candidate emerging from this primary who will be out of touch with the rest of the state.”
