Tim Michels Doubles Down On Opposition To Same-Sex Marriage

Latest News

Asked if he supports same-sex marriage or believes it should be banned, Trump-endorsed extremist Tim Michels said yesterday in an interview he believes “marriage should be between a man and a woman.”

Michels has a long record of out-of-touch policies. He supports banning abortions without exceptions for rape or incest and once backed a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage. Now he’s doubling down on his opposition to gay marriage.

Trump’s recent endorsement solidified the Wisconsin GOP primary as a sprint to the far-right, and it’s clear Michels, and the rest of the field will have to embrace radical positions to survive.

Michels, Rebecca Kleefisch, Kevin Nicholson, and Tim Ramthun all embrace MAGA conspiracy theories, vow to sign voter suppression laws, and support banning most abortions. Kleefisch herself has faced criticism for once saying same-sex marriage could result in people marrying dogs, tables, or clocks.

“Tim Michels has doubled down on yet another far-right position, this time saying he opposes same-sex marriage,” said DGA Senior Communications Advisor Christina Amestoy. “Trump’s endorsement clearly turned the heat up on this GOP primary, and the candidates will say anything to win over the radical MAGA base. Whoever wins will have taken positions completely out of touch with the majority of Wisconsinites.”
