Three Days After The Primary, Montana Democratic Gubernatorial Candidates Unite While The GOP Splinters
Williams and Cooney Present a United Front, Fox Takes Jabs at Gianforte Rather Than Endorsing
Three days after the primary – the Montana Democratic gubernatorial candidates have unified around a common purpose, and Montana Republicans came out swinging… at each other.
In GOP Attorney General Tim Fox’s final email to supporters, he took shots at Republican gubernatorial nominee Greg Gianforte’s “ego,” making it clear he still holds a grudge: “Too often candidates fail to appreciate the role they seek to fill. Ego and lust for power overshadows the desire to serve and help others. I wasn’t going to let that happen to me.”
Meanwhile, Democratic gubernatorial nominee Lt. Gov Mike Cooney and former Democratic candidate Whitney Williams have already united around a common goal: defeating New Jersey millionaire Greg Gianforte and protecting Montanans’ access to public lands, health care, and education. Williams endorsed Cooney on election night after the race was called.
“Just days after the primary, Montana Democrats are fully united to defeat New Jersey millionaire Greg Gianforte, while the Montana GOP continues to tear itself apart,” said DGA National Press Secretary, Jerusalem Demsas. “Gianforte’s unique unpopularity and underhanded campaign tactics have resulted in a deeply divided Republican Party incapable of uniting Montanans. Lt. Gov. Mike Cooney shares Montana values which is why he is the only candidate who can bring people together to get things done.”
