Thom Tillis on Mark Robinson: “I don’t think that he has the qualifications for the job.”
More than two months after becoming North Carolina’s Republican nominee for governor, Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson is still struggling to unite his own party.
Asked in an interview with Spectrum News if he was “on board” with Robinson being the GOP nominee, U.S. Senator Thom Tillis yet again stated that he doesn’t believe that Robinson “has the qualifications for the job.”
Tillis’ jab is the latest in a months-long back and forth between Robinson and North Carolina’s senior U.S. Senator. During the primary election, Tillis endorsed Robinson’s primary opponent Bill Graham, citing a “stark contrast in capabilities,” and bashing Robinson for having “virtually no legislative experience, very little business experience.” Immediately after winning his primary, Robinson fired back, saying that he isn’t “interested in anything that Thom Tillis has to say.”
“Mark Robinson’s dangerous agenda and divisive politics have brought a level of chaotic infighting to this race that will only get worse as the race continues,” said DGA National Press Secretary Devon Cruz. “From his full-throated support for stripping away North Carolinians’ rights to his embrace of dangerous conspiracy theories, even Republicans are admitting that Robinson is wrong for North Carolina.”
