The Virginia GOP is Doubling Down on Donald Trump’s Conspiracy Theories, and Glenn Youngkin is Leading the Way

As he prepares for his appearance as a “featured guest” at the Virginia 5th District GOP’s so-called “Election Integrity” Rally later this week, new reporting is exposing how Glenn Youngkin would not tell a voter the truth and say that there is no possible path for Trump’s reinstatement as president, saying instead that “the court system is moving slowly and it’s unclear.”
As Youngkin continues down the rabbit hole of dangerous lies and conspiracy theories, his allies are doing the same. One of his top supporters – State Senator Amanda Chase – is leading the call for a sham audit of the 2020 election in Virginia. Chase is taking her “movement” filled with the same dangerous lies that incited the deadly January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol to a protest at the Virginia General Assembly.
Despite there being zero evidence of widespread voter fraud taking place in the Commonwealth, Chase has submitted an open call for “election leaders and elected leaders from across Virginia who have been working on election integrity efforts” to join her as she peddles Trump’s ‘Big Lie’. And it appears Glenn Youngkin is answering her call as he doubles down on the nonsense rhetoric about non-existent voter fraud he’s based his entire campaign on and called “the most important issue.”
Despite numerous calls to withdraw his attendance from the August 6th GOP Election Integrity rally, Youngkin is blazing ahead, proving to voters that he’s more willing to embrace Donald Trump’s dangerous conspiracies than tell the truth to Virginians.
Since the beginning of his campaign, Youngkin has endorsed the GOP’s lies about the mass voter fraud in the 2020 election and refuses to denounce attempts by his supporters and allies to overturn the election. He even spent months refusing to say that Joe Biden was the legitimately elected president and only half-heartedly admitted the truth after he won the Republican nomination. Youngkin has also repeatedly praised Trump and has even gone so far as to admit he “represents so much of why” he’s running for governor.
“As he reaffirms his loyalty for Donald Trump and his dangerous lies, Glenn Youngkin must answer whether or not he supports these attempts by his radical allies to overturn the election,” said DGA Communications Director David Turner. “Youngkin is running on a campaign of conspiracy theories and has endorsed every coordinated attempt by the GOP to sow distrust in the American electoral process. Virginians deserve a governor who will stand for the truth over lies.”
