The Last Word: “Craziest and Most Dangerous Republican Running for Governor This Year” Mark Robinson
Last night, Lawrence O’Donnell brought Attorney General Josh Stein on The Last Word to talk about Mark Robinson’s recent comments declaring that “some people need killing!” and to highlight what’s at stake in the governor’s election.
The interview opened with Lawrence O’Donnell describing Mark Robinson as the “craziest and most dangerous Republican running for governor this year” and featured footage from CBS 17 of Mark Robinson lashing out at reporters, and running away into an elevator as they tried to ask him to explain who he was referring to when declaring that “some people need killing!” and “it’s time for somebody to say it. It’s not a matter of vengeance. It’s not a matter of being mean or spiteful. It’s a matter of necessity!”
Robinson made those remarks at a recent campaign event, and has been facing intense local and national scrutiny while refusing to answer basic questions. At the same event, Robinson also stated that “We now find ourselves struggling with people who have evil intent.” However, his campaign“did not respond to a question about who the people with ‘evil intent’ are that Robinson alluded to immediately prior to the ‘killing’ comments.”
“Mark Robinson’s dangerous rhetoric is further proof that he cannot make North Carolina safer, and will not stand up for North Carolinians,” said DGA National Press Secretary Devon Cruz. “Robinson needs to stop running from accountability and explain to North Carolinians why he embraces political violence.”
