“Terminate It”: What Trump’s Obamacare Repeal Will Cost Iowa
Does Gov. Kim Reynolds Support the President’s Efforts to Rip Away Health Care from 187,000 Iowans?
Yesterday, President Trump doubled down on his administration’s ultimate goal to “terminate” the ACA even as the country faces its worst public health crisis in history. The deadly effects that a repeal of the Affordable Care Act would cause are unquestionable.
In Iowa alone:
- 187,000 people would lose health care coverage, raising the state’s uninsured rate among its nonelderly population from 5.7 percent to 12.9 percent.
- 1.3 million people with preexisting conditions could face higher premiums, face benefit exclusions, or be denied coverage altogether.
- $1.4 billion in federal funding for health coverage would be lost.
“President Trump wants to rip away millions of Americans’ health care, even as they need it now more than ever,” said DGA Communications Director David Turner. “As Iowa faces a deadly pandemic, the question is simple: Does Kim Reynolds support Trump’s dream of ripping away Iowans’ access to critical, life-saving health care?”
