Statement from Governor Shumlin on President Obama’s Personnel Announcements

Latest News

Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin, Chair of the Democratic Governors Association, today issued the following statement regarding President Obama’s personnel announcements:
“In nominating HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan as OMB Director and San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro to replace him as HUD Secretary, President Obama has chosen strong public servants who are focused on expanding economic opportunity to all Americans.  Both Secretary Donovan and Mayor Castro are leaders of tremendous integrity and credentials and will help implement our shared goals of creating jobs, strengthening the middle class, and growing the economy.
“Democratic governors across the country are promoting innovation and job creation through smart investments in education, energy, manufacturing, and infrastructure, all while working across party lines to foster the environment for businesses to grow. But our governors need willing and able partners in Washington to build on those successes, and that’s exactly what the President has provided with these nominations.”
