Statement from DGA Chair Governor Martin O’Malley on New Hampshire Primary Results

Latest News

Washington, DC – Governor Martin O’Malley, chair of the Democratic Governors Association, released the following statement tonight  on the results of the New Hampshire gubernatorial primary:

“I congratulate Democrats Maggie Hassan and Jackie Cilley on a race well-run. Hassan is an excellent choice for New Hampshire, having spent her life bringing people together to find common ground and solve problems. She worked together with Governor John Lynch to balance the budget, and Hassan will keep moving New Hampshire forward by working to create new jobs and ensuring New Hampshire’s kids learn in strong schools that prepare them for the new economy.

“By choosing failed former candidate Ovide Lamontagne as their nominee, Republicans have nominated a candidate who has embraced the most extreme elements in the Tea Party legislature and whose priorities are totally out of touch with New Hampshire families: Lamontagne would dismantle Medicare, roll back women’s rights, and weaken education, moving New Hampshire backward.

“The Democratic Governors Association is committed to keeping this seat Democratic and ensuring that Maggie Hassan can build on Governor John Lynch’s leadership and his legacy of sound fiscal management in the Granite State.”
