Statement by DGA Executive Director Elisabeth Pearson on the Passing of AFSCME's Larry Scanlon
Washington, D.C. – Today, Elisabeth Pearson, executive director of the Democratic Governors Association, released the following statement on the passing of former AFSCME political director Larry Scanlon:
“For over forty years, Larry Scanlon was a leader in the fight to strengthen the middle class, working tirelessly on issues like raising the minimum wage and protecting Social Security for generations to come. As AFSCME’s political director, Larry was a brilliant strategist who expanded the union’s political program and ensured that workers’ voices were heard in legislatures across the country. Larry Scanlon will be remembered as a champion for all working families and will be dearly missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends during this difficult time.”
