Seattle Times Slams Reichert For Refusing to Say Where He Stands on Trump

The Seattle Times: “We encourage [Reichert] to show leadership and not be coy about his thoughts about the Republican nominee for president.”

The Seattle Times rebuked former U.S. Congressman and Republican candidate for governor Dave Reichert for once again refusing to take a stand on former President Trump, encouraging him to “show leadership and not be coy about his thoughts about the Republican nominee for president.”

This isn’t the first time Reichert has been called out for failing to make clear his position on Trump. Following the Washington state presidential primary, Reichert refused to answer whether he voted for Trump.

In Congress, Reichert voted with the former president 92.5% of the time, voted to ban abortion, repeal the Affordable Care Act, and co-sponsored Trump’s tax scheme that slashed taxes for the ultra-wealthy at the expense of Washington families.

Reichert’s own supporters know this: after losing the Washington State Republican Party’s endorsement at this year’s convention to far-right disgraced former school board member and die-hard Trump supporter Semi Bird, they took to social media to brag about Reichert’s MAGA voting record, while Reichert himself secretly promised his supporters that he would pretend to be a moderate to win the election, but that once he’s in office, he would “start showing our conservative ideas.”

“Dave Reichert won’t say where he stands on Trump because he knows their shared legacy of attempting to ban abortion, rip health care away from millions, and cut taxes for the ultra-wealthy is toxic to Washington voters,” said DGA States Press Secretary Emma O’Brien. “But behind closed doors, Reichert – and his supporters – know he has Trump’s back through and through. If Reichert is too scared to say where he stands on Trump, he’s not fit to be Washington’s next governor.”
