Salango Soundly Defeats Justice in Debate
Kanawha County Commissioner Ben Salango tonight delivered a sound victory in the only gubernatorial debate of the cycle. While highlighting his record of fighting for West Virginia’s families, Ben went after Gov. Jim Justice’s four years of failure in office.
Since his election four years ago, Jim Justice has failed to show up for West Virginia. Instead of looking out for working families, Justice has used the governorship to enrich his family’s business empire all while dodging the duties of the job he was elected to do. He’s made billions for himself off the backs of hardworking coal miners, but has fought to avoid paying them what they deserve. And don’t even get us started on the state of the roads in West Virginia.
“Jim Justice has been failing West Virginians ever since he took office,” said DGA Deputy Communications Director Christina Amestoy. “From his unethical use of the office to line his own pockets to his refusal to actually show up and fix the problems facing West Virginia, Justice has shown he’s not fit to serve as governor. West Virginia deserves a governor who will show up and fight for them every day, and that’s just what Ben Salango will do.”
