Rhode Island Gov. Dan McKee Unveils Plan to Move the State Forward Over the Next Decade

Gov. McKee’s Bold Agenda Promotes Equity, Supports Small Businesses, Addresses the Climate Crisis, and Invests in Families

Continuing his work to build a better Rhode Island, Gov. Dan McKee announced his preliminary guiding document — RI 2030: Charting A Course for the Ocean State Over the Next Decade.

Gov. McKee’s bold agenda for the state’s priorities in the next decade was constructed following conversations with community members on key priority areas such as education, workforce, and children and family issues. The plan will also now have the opportunity to be shaped by additional public input from Rhode Islanders from across the state.

Gov. McKee said: “As Rhode Island emerges from a once-in-a-century public health crisis, we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to build a more resilient, prosperous, and equitable state for all. Making the most of this opportunity will require a collaborative effort to address not only the issues caused by the pandemic, but also those that existed long before.”

Each key aspect of the plan focuses on building a Rhode Island that works for all. The framework emphasizes equity and making sure that those too often left behind are uplifted. Topic areas focused upon in the plan include: supporting small businesses, investing in children, families, and early education, driving economic growth, and strengthening k-12 education.

The guiding principles of this plan address the root causes of the primary issues facing the state, and its impacts will have long-term benefits on Rhode Island families.”
