Rhode Island GOP Gov. Candidate Ashley Kalus Lost COVID Testing Contract After More Than 100 Complaints of Mismanagement

Kalus Had Her State Contract Canceled Following Complaints Including, “Improper Disposal of Hazardous Material,” and “Missing Results” At COVID Testing Sites

New reporting is exposing Rhode Island GOP candidate for governor Ashley Kalus’ abysmal management of COVID test centers that caused the state to cancel her multi-million dollar contract.

According to the Rhode Island Department of Health, the sites run by Kalus’ COVID testing company received over 100 complaints about a laundry list of issues, including “testing sites closing early, long waits at testing sites, improper disposal of hazardous material, staff not changing gloves between swabs on different patients, staff not wearing masks, missing results and people not receiving results in a timely manner, and a general experience of poor customer service.”

The management of test sites was so bad, that the state pulled Kalus’ contract and replaced Kalus’ company with a different company.

“Ashley Kalus’ complete mismanagement of her COVID testing sites speaks to the kind of chaos and dysfunction she would bring if elected governor,” said DGA Senior Communications Advisor Christina Amestoy. “Gov. McKee’s efficient and responsible leadership during the pandemic has led to Rhode Island having some of the highest vaccination rates in the country. Kalus, on the other hand, failed to deliver for Rhode Islanders when it mattered.”
