Real Freedom Files: Gov. Shapiro Implements Automatic Voter Registration in PA

Today, Gov. Josh Shapiro announced his administration is fulfilling a major campaign promise to defend democracy and implementing automatic voter registration across Pennsylvania, telling the Washington Post: “I see voter participation as key to strengthening democracy,” and that he is “committed to ensuring free and fair elections, and to making sure every eligible voter can make their voice heard.”

The Washington Post also noted: “The change could be dramatic. Shapiro said that the state has calculated that 1.6 million people who are currently eligible to vote in Pennsylvania are not registered, and his office estimates that automatic registration could add tens of thousands of new voters to the rolls.”
