Rauner Praises SCOTUS Pick, Proves He Won’t Stand Up to Trump
Late last night, Governor Bruce Rauner tweeted his approval of President Donald Trump’s nominee to the Supreme Court, Judge Brett Kavanaugh, despite the risks his nomination holds for women’s health and health care protections. Rauner echoed national Republicans’ calls for a “fair hearing” and a “swift nomination.”
“Once again, Bruce Rauner is cheering on Donald Trump instead of fighting for Illinois women and families,” said DGA Illinois Communications Director Sam Salustro. “Bruce Rauner’s party-line praise of the president’s Supreme Court nominee proves he’s unwilling to stand up to Trump, even when basic women’s health rights are on the line.”
Rauner has always played the role of silent partner to Trump’s extreme agenda, but has lately openly embraced one Trump action after another. Rauner’s more assertive support comes as a Super PAC with ties to Trump began airing ads in support of the nation’s most vulnerable incumbent.
