Ramaswamy Dismisses Affordability as a “Buzzword” 

Comments come after Ramaswamy said higher costs are a “perceived” issue

In a new interview with the New York Times, Vivek Ramaswamy shrugged off Ohio’s affordability crisis as a “buzzword.” Since last year, gas prices have risen statewide by 85 cents and costs continue to rise.

Ramaswamy’s comments come after he launched his campaign with an extreme plan to defund schools and public safety services, essentially implementing a 20% sales tax that even Gov. DeWine called “absolutely devastating.” He’s suggested that Ohioans struggling with high costs should deal with inflation by simply earning more money and that higher costs as a whole are a “perceived” issue.

“Vivek Ramaswamy is living on another planet if he thinks Ohioans’ concerns about affordability aren’t a real problem,” said DGA spokesperson Izzi Levy. “It’s easy to dismiss the skyrocketing cost of living when you spent nearly one million dollars on a private jet last year, but Ramaswamy’s out-of-touch comments are yet another reminder that he doesn’t care about the challenges they’re facing, and that Ohioans can’t afford his cost-raising agenda.”
