Chip in today to elect Dem govs across the country >>
Democratic governors are leading the fight against Donald Trump and his administration – and they need your help. Trump and his allies have hundreds of millions of dollars to attack our candidates, and we have to make sure we’ve got the resources to fight back. With 36 races on the map this November, 80% of Americans will cast their vote for their next governor. We need to invest NOW to expand our map, win in battleground states, protect our blue firewall of Dem govs, and flip critical states from red to blue. Can Dem govs count on you to chip in right now?
Rachel Maddow Highlights Democratic Governors’ Broad Coalition of Support Across Party Lines
Maddow: “even other Republicans can’t bring themselves to support the candidate from their own party.”
Last night, Rachel Maddow spotlighted the trend of Democratic governors and candidates in states like Kansas, Michigan and Pennsylvania are building strong coalitions of supporters from across the political spectrum — including endorsements from top in-state Republican leaders.
Watch the full clip here.
Maddow noted how in Kansas, Gov. Laura Kelly has “racked up more than 100 endorsements from prominent Kansas Republicans across the state.” That includes former GOP Gov. Bill Graves and former U.S. Sen. Nancy Kassebaum, who chose to endorse Gov. Kelly over Derek Schmidt even though Schmidt worked for both of them for years.
In Michigan, “over 150 prominent Republicans from across the state…have crossed over to endorse…Gretchen Whitmer.”
And in Pennsylvania, as Maddow noted, “headline after headline,” shows Josh Shapiro gaining endorsements from prominent Republicans.
Democratic governors are generating impressive bipartisan support while their GOP opponents double down on extremism and out-of-touch positions. Maddow highlighted a brand new ad from Tony Evers’ campaign, slamming Tim Michels for his extreme position on abortion that would force 12-year-olds to give birth, even if they are victims of rape or incest.
