Once Again, Gov. Whitmer Lands Major Electric Vehicle Economic Development, Brings 1,200 New Jobs To Michigan
Thanks to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s strong leadership on economic development, Michigan will see 1,200 new jobs.
LG Energy Solution, a manufacturer of battery packs for electric vehicles, announced it will quintuple its current capacity and invest $1.7 billion, creating 1,200 jobs.
The announcement from LG comes just two months after General Motors made the “single largest investment announcement in GM history” — a historic $7 billion investment in Michigan that will create 4,000 new jobs.
Between the LG and GM investments, Gov. Whitmer is transforming Michigan into a hub for electric vehicle manufacturing and ensuring Michigan remains a global auto industry leader.
“By creating thousands of new good-paying jobs and ensuring Michigan remains a global electric vehicle leader, Gov. Whitmer is chartering long-term economic success for the state,” said DGA Deputy Communications Director Sam Newton. “The impacts of Gov. Whitmer’s economic gains are monumental, and will be felt by Michigan working families for generations to come.”
