Democratic governors are leading the fight against Donald Trump and his administration – and they need your help. Trump and his allies have hundreds of millions of dollars to attack our candidates, and we have to make sure we’ve got the resources to fight back. With 36 races on the map this November, 80% of Americans will cast their vote for their next governor. We need to invest NOW to expand our map, win in battleground states, protect our blue firewall of Dem govs, and flip critical states from red to blue. Can Dem govs count on you to chip in right now?

On Day One, CT’s Republican Primary Descends Into a Chaotic MAGA Mess

It was just yesterday that Erin Stewart officially declared that she is running for Connecticut governor, and the Republican primary between her and Ryan Fazio is already a chaotic race to the right.

Stewart kicked off her campaign bragging about her ties to Donald Trump, “pointedly highlight[ing] two photos of her with … Trump during her trip to the White House in his first term.” Stewart also didn’t hesitate to jab at Fazio in her launch video, smearing him as an “insider” and a “wealthy, out-of-touch politician.”

Not to be outdone, an outside money pro-Fazio group has gone scorched earth against Stewart, releasing a blistering mailer that is already raising eyebrows:

As the Connecticut Mirror reports, a “group supportive of Fazio sent a mailing last week to selected Republican activists that attacked Stewart’s record … and described her as ‘anti-Trump.’” The “Republicans can’t trust Erin Stewart” mailer called Stewart’s MAGA bonafides into question and quoted her downplaying her ties to Trump.

“The Republican primary isn’t even a day old and it’s already descended into a MAGA mess. Republicans are already facing a very uphill climb against one of the most popular governors in the country — and this nasty, chaotic primary isn’t doing them any favors,” said DGA spokesperson Kevin Donohoe.
