Off to the Races: Jack Ciattarelli Takes Aim at Fellow Republican, Previewing Messy MAGA Primary

The new year has just begun and New Jersey’s nasty GOP gubernatorial primary is well underway, with two-time failed gubernatorial candidate Jack Ciattarelli’s campaign launching a new website slamming fellow Republican candidate Bill Spadea, taking aim at the radio and “failed TV” host for his losing record as a candidate, being “phony MAGA,” and not being loyal enough to Donald Trump.

There’s a reason behind Ciattarelli’s sudden and desperate attempt to go after Spadea: a new poll commissioned by Spadea’s campaign in December found that the candidate’s favorables are increasing, including “a lead in in Ocean County against rival Jack Ciattarelli,” and “a statistical dead heat in Monmouth.”

“Jack Ciattarelli is previewing what is only going to be an increasingly messy and heated battle for the next six months, pushing his fellow candidates further to the right, and leaving the eventual Republican nominee damaged in the general election,” said DGA States Press Secretary Emma O’Brien. “While they duke it out, New Jersey voters are looking for a leader who’s focused on solving some of their toughest challenges, not partisan bickering that leaves them behind.”
