North Carolina Lt. Gov Mark Robinson Says He’d Ban All Abortions if Elected Governor
North Carolina Lt. Gov, and likely GOP candidate for governor, Mark Robinson said he wants to completely ban all abortions without exceptions for rape, incest, or the mother’s life if he’s elected governor.
On a right-wing radio show on Monday, Robinson said “If I had all the power right now, let’s say I was the governor and had a willing legislature, we could pass a bill saying you can’t have an abortion in North Carolina for any reason.”
Robinson’s extreme stance on banning all abortions is just one of the dangerous positions he’s championed as he gears up for his likely run for governor. Just last week, footage exposed Robinson attacking LGBTQ+ kids and mocking the idea that climate change is real. Robinson has also made a series of misogynistic comments, including implying women should not be leaders.
DGA Spokesperson Sam Newton said, “Mark Robinson’s extreme abortion ban without exceptions would be catastrophic to women and is on the wrong side of North Carolina values. As he gets ready to kick his extreme, far-right campaign for governor into gear, Mark Robinson continues to prove just how dangerous he really is.”
