No Questions Allowed at Mastriano Campaign Events
Doug Mastriano’s campaign has resorted to physically blocking reporters from asking questions at public campaign events in their attempt to shield Mastriano from having to answer for his dangerous agenda.
Pittsburgh’s Action News reported that the Mastriano campaign has not responded to multiple requests for interviews over the past two months, and at a campaign event yesterday, campaign aides physically halted a reporter from interviewing Mastriano as he walked to the podium and wouldn’t allow WTAE to record audio.
Asked why Mastriano is hiding from questions, an aide said, “This is a private venue. We’re asking you to leave.” But the owner of the facility hosting the event made clear, “I opened it to the public. It’s a public event.”
This comes as Mastriano faces widespread criticism from Pennsylvanians about why he’s refusing to condemn his top ally, antisemitic Gab CEO Andrew Torba. Even members of his own party have slammed Mastriano for recruiting supporters from Gab, which was “key” in the deadliest attack on Jews in U.S. history.
DGA Deputy Communications Director Sam Newton said: “Doug Mastriano is happy to sit down and chat with his antisemitic buddies, but he’s doing everything in his power to avoid answering questions about the real issues facing Pennsylvanians. That tells voters everything they need to know about how dangerous Doug Mastriano really is.”
