New York Daily News: GOP Rep. Lawler Boasted of Securing $32M for District Projects, Then Voted Not to Fund Them
A new report from the New York Daily News reveals that Rep. Mike Lawler “bragged about obtaining $32 million in federally funded projects” for his district, then failed New Yorkers by voting “for a Republican spending bill that left out the grants for those community projects.”
As the New York Daily News points out, Lawler’s vote left critical public safety, policing, and infrastructure grants “in legislative limbo, with no way of knowing when or if they will ever win approval,” and communities “were shocked to find out the rug was pulled out from under them for important local priorities.”
“Mike Lawler wants to take credit for himself, but the reality is that he’ll always bend the knee to extreme national Republicans – even if it hurts New Yorkers,” said DGA Campaign Communications Advisor Emma O’Brien. “The more the lights shine on Lawler, the more he falls apart. Lawler’s disastrous voting record in Congress proves that New Yorkers can’t trust him to put them first.”
