New Report Reveals Kelly Ayotte Endorser Jon Stone Fired for “Alleged Racist, Homophobic Remarks”

Ayotte continues to accept Stone’s support

New Hampshire state Representative Jon Stone – an early endorser of former U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte’s campaign for governor – was fired from the Vermont Department of Corrections for allegedly “using racist, sexist, and homophobic insults, intimidating co-workers and making them fear his retaliation, and even getting a gay colleague to quit,” a new report from InDepthNH reveals.

The report found that Stone “allegedly called a gay co-worker a ‘f*ggot,’”who “ended up quitting and blamed the open homophobia from numerous co-workers.” Stone also allegedly “called female co-workers ‘c—-,’ and ‘fat cows’ and called others ‘retards,’…He also used the term ‘wetback.’” One coworker claimed, “Stone spreads poison around this facility like it’s candy,” and another that “[Stone] created… kind of a dangerous work environment and people felt intimidated by him.”

Despite Stone’s dangerous and extreme rhetoric, Republican candidate for governor Kelly Ayotte continues to stand by him and accept his support. As InDepthNH reports, “the campaign team for gubernatorial hopeful Kelly Ayotte also did not respond to a request for comment. After InDepthNH.org reported on Stone’s Claremont history, Ayotte took heat for campaigning with Stone. She’s yet to comment on the matter.”

Stone’s name is still listed on Ayotte’s endorsement page on her website, and posts of them campaigning together are still live on her social media. Ayotte also refused to condemn Stone or renounce his endorsement of her campaign in an interview earlier this year after it was revealed that Stone “threatened to kill fellow police officers in a shooting spree, and murder his chief after raping the chief’s wife and children, all while he was already under scrutiny for his inappropriate relationship with a teen girl.”

“This new report further proves just how extreme and dangerous Jon Stone is – and Kelly Ayotte’s silence continues to show that she’s willing to do anything and stand by anyone to win,” said DGA States Press Secretary Emma O’Brien. “Instead of standing with New Hampshire police and corrections officers, Kelly Ayotte is continuing to accept the support of a dangerous and extreme politician in order to win the election.”
