New Report: Mastriano Paid $5,000 To Gab — A “Haven” for “White Supremacists, Antisemites”

Tree of Life Shooter Used Gab — now the organization is on Doug Mastriano’s payroll

As reported in new coverage from WESA, Doug Mastriano has hired Gab — a notorioushaven for users who are white supremacists, antisemites, and violent extremists” — paying the organization $5,000 for “campaign consulting.”

Gab “gained scrutiny as “the website used by Robert Bowers, who is charged with killing 11 Jewish worshippers at the Tree of Life synagogue,” and hosted Bowers’ routinely posted antisemitic content.

Gab is also known to “sponsor white nationalist and antisemitic organizations, including Holocaust denier Nick Fuentes’ America First Political Action Conference and the virulently racist website VDare.”

Andrew Torba, the founder of Gab who endorsed Mastriano in the primary, has a history of pushing antisemitism and white nationalism and lauded the January 6 insurrection. The report notes Torba has “openly promoted white nationalist content and conspiracies” and “encouraged Gab members to marry and have babies only with other white people.”

Additionally, Mastriano – who routinely avoids local media – “has posted 66 times on Gab since he joined it in February” and even sat down for an interview with Gab, where he “expressed no reservations during the 16-minute interview about the content on Gab and thanked Torba for providing a space for conservative voices like his own,” according to the report.

When asked for comment on Gab, Torba, and the organization’s ties to his campaign, the Mastriano campaign didn’t respond.

“Doug Mastriano keeps hiring extremists to work on his campaign who share his dangerous beliefs and toxic agenda,” said DGA Deputy Communications Director Sam Newton. “This is more proof Mastriano is hellbent on bringing dangerous hate and extremism to Pennsylvania. He should immediately explain his long-standing relationship with Gab and its CEO.”
