Kehoe Has Also Refused to Commit to Upholding The Will of Voters on Amendment to Protect Abortion Rights
A new report from the Kansas City Star reveals how Lt. Governor Mike Kehoe has turned into a full-fledged election denier, writing “Kehoe’s campaign wouldn’t tell The Star whether he believes Biden won the 2020 election.”
This follows a CNN report from over the weekend that revealed Kehoe “rejected the legitimacy of Biden’s victory…”
In addition to undermining democracy and siding with conspiracy theorists, Kehoe’s refusal to accept the results of a free and fair election could also threaten the future of abortion rights in Missouri. In particular, if Kehoe is elected and the ballot amendment to restore abortion rights passes, reproductive rights will still be in jeopardy because he’s refused to commit to upholding the will of voters on that issue too. Even more alarming, Kehoe’s top allies have made clear throwing out the amendment if it passes will be a top priority.
Specifically, Kehoe has said that he was willing to do “everything I can, sacrificing even my own campaign…” to oppose the popular amendment and keep Missouri’s extreme and unpopular abortion ban, with no exception for rape or incest, in place.
“Mike Kehoe’s pattern of denying election results and refusing to commit to upholding the will of Missouri voters on fundamental issues like reproductive rights is too extreme for the governor’s office,” said DGA States Press Secretary Emma O’Brien. “Missouri deserves a new leader like Crystal Quade who will always fight to protect fundamental freedoms and put the needs of Missouri families first.”
