Mike Braun Called Out, Forced to Change His Misleading Ad with “Wildy Altered Image”
Today, Mike Braun was forced to change a new negative and false ad against Jennifer McCormick, after he was caught using a ”wildly altered image” to mislead Hoosiers and distract them from his terrible record, such as supportingthe state’s extreme abortion ban, outlining his position to take it even further, and pushing to strip resources from public schools.
After the initial version of the ad aired, Politico’s Adam Wren reported that the Braun “campaign altered” an image of McCormick and supporters, while Inside Elections’ Jacob Rubashkin said: “I’m not sure I’ve seen something like this, especially with no citation and no disclaimer that the image is manipulated.”
Braun was later caught and forced to update the ad with a disclaimer to comply with Indiana state law, but the ad had “already aired about 40 times across the state.”
Either way the ad is false, deeply misleading and comes after new polling shows McCormick is gaining momentum, prompting nonpartisan race raters to shift the race in McCormick’s favor.
“Today, Mike Braun has made it clear that he is willing to outright lie to Hoosiers in order to advance his own political ambitions,” said DGA National Press Secretary Devon Cruz. “The reality is Jennifer McCormick is a commonsense leader who is gaining momentum because she has a vision to work to bring both parties together to fix Indiana’s biggest issues and restore fundamental freedoms. Instead of hiding behind these shameless lies, Braun should come clean and also answer for his extreme record like supporting the state’s dangerous abortion ban.”
