McMaster-Endorsed GOP Tax Plan Passes
Gov. McMaster Supported Raising Taxes For Thousands of South Carolina Middle-Class Families
Today, the Congressional tax bill endorsed by South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster is on its way to becoming law.
The Senate passed the tax reform bill today that will raise taxes on South Carolina middle-class families, giving huge tax breaks to the wealthy, and ballooning the national debt.
Gov. McMaster endorsed the bill, calling it a “win for South Carolina.”
“Republicans in Congress just voted to raise taxes on South Carolina middle-class families and Governor McMaster cheered them on,” said DGA Communications Director Jared Leopold. “Now as he runs for reelection, Governor McMaster will have to explain to South Carolina voters why he supported raising their taxes. McMaster decided to stand with Washington Congressional Republicans instead of the middle-class families of South Carolina. Next year, voters will have an opportunity to send a message to Governor McMaster about his wrong priorities.”

Background
Governor Henry McMaster Supported the GOP Tax Plan (R, SC): “For too long, our tax code has been overcomplicated and uncompetitive, placing an outsized burden on business while perplexing the average American. This is a rare opportunity to fix a broken system, putting money back in taxpayers’ pockets and encouraging more companies to invest, expand, hire and profit. It’s a win for South Carolina.” [White House, State and Local Leaders Push for Tax Reform, 12/12/17]
